BURNER CHOICES

FLAMING EMBER BURNER (F)

The F Burner is our basic single tune burner used underneath a log grate. It produces a pleasing, variable flame with a more compact ember bed.

FLAMING EMBER XTRA BURNER (FX)

The FX Burner features the same main burner tube as the F, but adds dual ember booster tubes for a larger, brighter ember bed in front of the logs..

MATCH LIGHTED

 Only for Natural Gas (Propane must have Safety Lighting Control). Light a match, place on ember bed, turn on gas with log lighter valve (usually in the wall or floor outside of the fireplace, but can use valve installed at the burner, like the V17B valve shown in photo.

Match Lighted. Shown with V17B manual valve.

Standing Pilot Safety Lighting Controls (all are installed inside the firebox)

Safety Lighting Controls [SLC] stop the gas flow to the burner(s) in the event of an interruption in the gas supply or a flameout, so that raw gas will not continue to flow. Propane is heavier than air, so it accumulates rather than vents up a chimney, like Natural Gas does. Accumulated Propane is an explosion hazard, so the use of a SLC prevents this. Therefore, all Propane sets must have a Safety Lighting Control that automatically shuts down the flow of gas. SLC also provide a convenient means of lighting the main burner(s) and, in some units, controlling the flame height.  They are required for all propane installations, advisable for natural gas, and in certain jurisdictions are required for all installations.

There are three main categories of Safety Lighting Controls:
1) Standing Pilots [SP] (Basic, "EASY" and Millivolt); and
2) Pilot on Demand-Electronic Ignition Systems (no standing pilot) [EIS]

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

BASIC MANUAL SAFETY PILOT CONTROL [SPK1]

Vented gas log sets are for use only in fireplaces in which it is safe to burn wood, which means:

1) The fireplace is made of non-combustible material;

2) It has a Class A All-Fuels chimney;

3) The Chimney/Flue system completely exhausts all of the products of combustion. Vented Pan Burner sets are designed to burn with a yellow, smoky, wood-like flame that produces carbon soot, carbon monoxide and other combustion products that must be exhausted up the chimney.

Vented Sets are not a cure for a smoking (non-drafting) chimney (you should use a Vent-free set).

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

All Rasmussen Vented Pan Burners are constructed of heavy 16-gauge steel, with ½” schedule-40 pipe (not light duty tubing) for the main burner tube and ¼” steel tubing for the ember booster portions of the FX, CXF and DF-CF, LC and LD burners.  All seams are welded for maximum performance and durability.  Rasmussen vented pan burners utilize a pan filler, which completely covers the burner tube(s).  The gas pressurizes beneath the filler, then breaks through into a dancing, smoky, wood-like flame.  Pan filler varies with gas type: White Sand for Natural Gas; Black Volcanic Ash for Propane (plus an air mixer and orifice).

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rasmussen uses real pieces of wood to develop our log patterns and a painstaking molding process to reproduce the finest detail.  Rasmussen logs are of the Ceramic Bonded Refractory Concrete type.  Rasmussen uses a high-heat resistant, high-alumina refractory cement with a maximum temperature rating of over 2300 degrees F, lightweight expanded clay aggregates and rigid steel rod reinforcing for strength and durability.  All of Rasmussen’s logs are hand colored with a multi-step (up to six colors) process utilizing environmentally-friendly non-paint-based ceramic colorations, which remain colorfast under fire, and which do not create any odor when burned.
